Personality (Basic description): In contrast to her brother, Kohana has a more serious and severe personality, one often highlighted with a front of arrogance. Always aware of the high bar that her brother has set, she will strive to raise it even farther. While highly competitive in this regard, she is by no means stupid. She is aware of the consequences that risky behavior will earn her, and would avoid it when possible. In battle, she would much rather target the easy win than struggle against an opponent stronger than or on equal ground to herself.
Prior to the seal she was placed under, Kohana carried a twisted pacifist view on life. While she was willing to engage the supernatural to achieve a boost in her own abilities, often in an attempt to keep up with or surpass her brother’s gains, she would avoid actually dirtying her hands in battle at all costs. This not only included avoiding battle with hollows, but also the shinigami that would come to confront her for her actions. Prior to the seal, she was also more apt to maintain discipline with her actions and emotions, carefully weighing the benefits with the consequences before acting. With eighty years to brood on how the shinigami had affected her fate, however, strong hatred has overcome this normal pacifist and disciplined. While she’ll still go for the easy target, she is much more apt to attacking first when confronted by shinigami. The hollows, however, are still beyond her concern.
Physical Appearance: Kohara has a slim body type, which is nothing out of the ordinary for her culture. What does put her in stark contrast with this culture is her long blonde hair and emerald green eyes. Unrestrained, her hair falls to the middle of her back. Considering her lack of contact with the modern world, she has had to make some adaptations to the fashion of her culture. When she was sealed, she was still wearing the floral patterned kimono that she wore when visiting the local Shrine. Upon release, she quickly set to find something more ‘modern’ to wear. Passing by a costume shop, she found herself highly amused by a set of black leather pants and the somewhat tight-fighting black halter top that was with it. It would come as quite a shock when she realized that this store did not represent the common fashion of the town.
History/ Biography: Born in the shadow of a brilliant older brother, Kohara would constantly be reminded of what she had to live up to. Being a girl, it was immediately expected that she would not live up to such a perfect son, especially when it came to strength. While she would feel resentment towards the spotlight that always shined on her brother, she would find her hole to compete with his perfection. Inshu was the “lazy” child, unwilling to live up to his talents. In this weakness, she would strive to build strength. While she was unable to match his growth in physical strength, she could put focus to her mental abilities. This focus would transfer to an almost obsession with her schoolwork, earning her a top position within her class.
Of course, no child would be considered complete or a match with their brilliant sibling if academic prowess was all they had to offer, so she took up studies in martial arts. Now here is where she would find herself slacking. The idea of struggling to better your skill to fight on your own level was simply illogical to Kohana, who found that it’d be easier to simply avoid battle entirely. So, while she would continue to attend her classes to please the family, she would not engage herself fully in their teachings. She had her own ideas when it came what was a fair fight, anyway.
For as far back as she could remember, Kohana felt what she described as a “connection” to nature. On her own time, she would always be found wandering through the local park or forests, anywhere she could find time alone to enjoy this connection. While she shared her brother’s ability to see the spirits of the dead, she would hold a different attitude towards this ability. She found these spirits to be an annoyance, a distraction from what she truly enjoyed. Far too often would she find some spirit wandering up to her with his or her problems while she was trying to work on the ability she preferred. The same year that her brother was presented with a family heirloom, the strange ring that their father had possessed, she would be handed a similar heirloom. Her mother would entrust her with a ring that she had always assumed was one created to go with their father’s. This silver ring, however, would contain what she had always assumed was an Emerald.
Carrying this ring, she would find that her connection to the plants around her had developed to a sense of control, an ability to transfer her will into them. This ability would continue to grow until she hit a frustrating plateau, one complicated by her observations of her brother’s continued development. During one of her normal wanderings through the woods, she would come upon another spirit. Though she tried to ignore its existence, it would continue to request that she assist it with this ‘monster’ that was following it. Once it had pressed her patience to its breaking point, she would lash out at it. Instead of just waving the being away, however, she’d stare on in shock as it was pulled into the emerald stone on her ring. The ring would become warm for a few moments. After this point, she would notice that her own development had continued by leaps and bounds. Not only was she able to move plants to her will, but she was also faster and stronger. With this new knowledge came new frustration, without the added boost from absorbing spirits, she would go back to the slow progression.
It wouldn’t take long for the shinigami to notice her behavior and for them to confront her on her ‘crimes.’ While she found their interference a nuisance, she understood their purpose and would instead avoid conflicts with them. Before long, however, she’d find herself following her brother in fleeing. Captured during an attempt to still pay respect to her religious upbringing, she would be placed under seal as well.
Zanpakutoh [Shinigami, Arrancar] (Include possible shikai to be obtained): Not Applicable. Kohana does carry a weapon, however. This weapon is whip made of blades (instead of the rope, you’ll find interlinked blades). Curently, she has wrapped this set of blades around her waist as a loose belt. When needed, she’ll slip the handle from it’s interlocked place and remove it from it’s safe position.

It had been a most unfair turn of events, indeed. To be ‘arrested’ on such sacred ground was a disgrace. Now she would find herself suffering away as time passed ever so slowly. It was almost a curse, the prolonged lifespan that the family heirloom had granted her. Running her thumb over the ring that still resided on her right ring finger, she could still feel the hatred coursing through her veins. How long had it been, anyway? She’d long since given up on counting the days, months, and eventually years that she’d been held in captivity. If they had been merciful, she would have found herself instead in some kind of deep sleep. Were her crimes so severe in nature that she was instead to suffer each day in some kind of stasis? Shimatta. Was she even able to speak here? No, that was definitely just a thought running across her mind. Breaking the normally sanity-threatening silence, however, there would come a noise. It almost sounded as though someone was working to break through the hastily created seal that kept her dormant. Impossible. Who would dare do such a thing? Unless… Then it would happen, the seal and rock above her would shatter, finally letting in the light that had been so distant all those years. It was painful, stinging and burning green eyes that had only known darkness. Shielding her face, she would squint up to see what stood before her. “ Oni-san! “ It couldn’t be! Yet, there he was, Takuhara Inshu, her old brother standing before her. The expression of shock and wonder would quickly be replaced by an arrogant grin. So, the time had finally come. They would finally be given the opportunity to repay the shinigami for years of solitude. “ What took you? “ The last statement she would give, letting that arrogance dance through her now even tone. She couldn’t lose faith in her older brother, but it certainly had taken him a long time to break through that seal. Ah, but that was now in the past. The real fun was about to begin, now that they were both free.
